Because new events are being added all the time be sure to check the Kids Section on the Museum’s home page often so you don’t miss out. And don’t forget the regularly scheduled free Family Day Activities scheduled on the second Saturday of each month!

Scale Model Aircraft Exhibition
Submit Wednesday, October 18th 4-7pm
Awards Sunday, October 22nd 3pm

It's that time of year to break out the model glue and paints because the Scale Model Aircraft Exhibition has once again arrived again at the Museum. If you are a model enthusiast between the ages of 5 to 18, you will want to enter this contest! All Blue Ribbon award winners’ models will be on display in the Museum all year. The models can range from early flight to spacecraft and can either be from a kit or built-up from other materials. After you get the extra glue off your hands, submit your model on Wednesday, October 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Museum’s entrance. Awards will be presented at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday October 22nd.
Great American Aero Derby

Attention Students! Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott Campus is teaming up with the Museum to host the Great American Aero Derby. Build and fly an amazing AeroRacer! These balsa and tissue fliers get amazing distances and time aloft. Their designer, Embry Riddle’s Distinguished Alumni Award Winner, Luc Bausch, will teach you everything you need to know to build a great racer. We’ll spend the morning building, and then hold a fly-off in the Pavilion of Flight. It’s just $10 for admission and materials, but space is limited. 4th Annual Amateur Photography Exhibition – The Sky’s the Limit!

It’s back! The 4th Annual Amateur Photography Exhibition in partnership with the San Diego Air & Space Museum welcomes photographers of all ages and skill levels. We want you to take this opportunity to submit your photos of flight. With your imagination, the sky's the limit. Submit your photograph to the Air & Space Museum from October 30th – November 5th. Photographs will be on display from November 13th – December 29th. There is no fee to enter and all entrants will be invited to the Artists' Reception in December when prizes will be awarded.

Attention Artists! The Annual International Aviation Art Contest is here again. This year’s theme is "Airfield." The Air & Space Museum along with the San Diego Airport Authority will sponsor a contest at the local level. Youth ages 6-17 are invited to submit their artwork on or before November 17th, 2006 to the Museum. . Entry forms will be made available soon, please check back.
